Parents of preteens and teens..how do you talk to your kids about sex?

Do you? Do you leave it up to the schools? Do you sit down with your children one on one? Do you sit down with your child's mother/father also and do it as parents? How do you approach this subject?

I approached it bluntly and honestly, beginning when she was 10. I explained why people choose to have sex (and why they choose to not have sex), and the risks associated with having sex.

I explained to her the many forms of birth control - why it's important to use them when one is having sex - and their weaknesses - things they DON'T protect you against.

We talked about STD's, pregnancy and abortion - pretty much everything under the sun.
